Director of Education
The Santa Monica Synagogue’s religious school seeks to immerse each child and family in Jewish life and learning through the study of Jewish history, culture, language, and ritual. We seek to help our children deepen their spiritual life through prayer and through their observance of Jewish holidays and life events; increase their connection with Jews here and throughout the world; and engage in acts of tzedakah (charitable giving) and tikkun olam (repair of society, the world, and our planet). We are looking for a director of the religious school that includes a preschool program, grades k-7, and a teen program to lead our school beginning July 1, 2021. Job Summary: The Director of Education leads our K-12 religious school program balancing administrative expertise with a passion for Jewish Education and our children. Essential Functions: Effectively manage staff, budget, curriculum, pacing plan, operations, volunteers, and religious school events Establish and maintain an effective, positive, and safe learning environment Ensure that policies and procedures are clear, current, and maintained Establish and maintain personal relationships with students and their families
