Job Description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: The Executive Director is the chief executive officer of the synagogue’s administration and operations. S/he takes direction from and is accountable to the President of the Congregation and the Board of Directors.

More specifically, the Executive Director: • partners with clergy, professional staff, and lay leaders to develop, execute and evaluate policies, and to build and manage the human, financial and physical resources of the synagogue.

• works collaboratively with lay leadership on membership recruitment and growth, integration and retention activities.

• manages the congregation's administrative and financial affairs, including supervisory responsibility for building management, administrative, accounting, preschool, religious school, and outside contracted personnel.

• provides support for professional staff, Board of Directors, committees and for long-term financial planning and fundraising, including, as needed, support for annual operation giving, grant applications, endowment and fundraising campaigns. S/he will have other duties as assigned.
