The full-time role of Associate Director is vital to the success of Camp Moshava Ennismore. This senior-level position is a leader in all aspects of the camp's operation, program, culture and community as well as the expected successor to our outgoing Director. The Associate Director reports to the Camp Director until her planned departure in Fall 2022. The Associate Director must be responsible, enthusiastic, and forward thinking. They will be responsible to help run a safe, educational and fun camp environment for campers. The Associate Director must understand and implement the ideals of Bnei Akiva to over 350 staff and campers.
The Associate Director must demonstrate: ● A deep commitment to and understanding of informal Jewish education ● Ability to move from vision to action to successful outcomes ● Experience with problem-solving, conflict resolution, and multi-tasking ● Working knowledge of organizational finances, budgeting, and planning ● Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills ● Strong organizational/management and collaboration skills ● Ability to oversee year-round day-to-day operational responsibilities
Responsibilities Non-Summer Months :
- Dedicate a few hours daily to meet with the Camp Director and Assistant Director to train on various tasks in order of priority for that specific month.
- Research all aspects of new camp-wide programming ideas, Eidah based programming ideas, general tochnit ideas and implementation
- Research & book trip program for the last two-week session of camp
- Review anafim (activities) curriculum and budget, and strategize daily anafim programming improvements in conjunction with the Rashei Anaf (Heads of individual activities)
- Work with various partner organizations, including Yachad, Nachshon, Foundation for Jewish Camping, Ontario Camping Association
- Work with the Fundraising Committee to assist and help implement fundraising endeavors
- Be familiar with aspects of the website/marketing strategies
- Be actively engaged in interviewing and recruiting for staff positions, staff development/training with Staff Trainer and Rosh Moshava
- Be involved, alongside the Director, in camper recruitment from different cities, as well as assist in achieving enrolment targets
- Work alongside Site Committee to gain familiarity with capital projects and improvements (e.g. new chadar ochel, senior staff lodging, new pool)
- Support management of virtual camp store, including interacting with vendor and tech support to select items and set up the website.
- Assisting in review of camper handbook/staff handbook
- Work with Camp Director, Health & Safety Committee and external sources to ensure Covid-19 protocols are maintained Summer Months (in Ennismore, Ontario):
- Coordinate Moshava Ba’ir Toronto visits, Visiting Day, Megamot (specialty choice activities), Eidot trips, Mini Mosh program
- Overseeing staff trainer, staff evaluations, staff engagement
- Manage the supervisors of the chadar ochel/kitchen
- Meet daily with Director for training on managerial items that occur during the summer
- Be actively involved in all aspects of the day to day running of camp
Qualifications
- 5-7 years experience in Jewish informal education
- Minimum 1-2 summers at overnight camp
- Willingness to travel for camper / staff recruitment and professional development
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Education or a related field
- Personal commitment to the ideals of Camp Moshava Ennismore
