Development Officer
Be a part of building our incredible Torah community at the Jewish Educational Center in Elizabeth, NJ. Founded in 1941, the JEC is an umbrella organization that includes an N-12 School (the JEC Elementary School, the JEC High School for Boys, and Bruriah High School for Girls), two community synagogues, multiple mikvaot, the YM-YWHA of Union County and more. The Development Officer reports to the Executive Vice President and Executive Director. Responsibilities: Campaign Strategy & Fundraising • Working with others to develop and actualize a comprehensive fundraising plan • Cultivate relationships with prospective donors • Solicit gifts of all sizes, increasing the number of donors and donations • Nurture relationships with current donors and increase their giving level over time • Produce fundraising reports, materials mailings, printed pieces, and web communications • Develop public and private grant opportunities and collaborate in proposal writing and reporting • Coordinate, manage and execute donor and fundraising events • Enlist and motivate constituents to participate in fundraising activities • Utilize trends in donor data to guide fundraising strategies
Administration • Manage development activities and ensure systems operate smoothly • In coordination with senior administration, provide accurate projections for budget reports • Ensure proper database management and record keeping • Create and implement promotional plan and materials • Develop pledge reminder system • Organize and support alumni association
Qualifications: • A passion for the JEC’s work • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team • Success developing and maintaining relationships • Professional fundraising experience, preferably in a Jewish environment • An entrepreneurial spirit that is constantly seeking new opportunities • A demonstrated ability to think strategically and opportunistically
