Who We Are Perrineville Jewish Center (“PJC”) is proud to be a 112-year-old, non-affiliated synagogue in Millstone Township, New Jersey. We are just over an hour from both New York City and Philadelphia. We are an open minded, small, welcoming community made up of people from a broad spectrum of Jewish backgrounds including interfaith families and LBGTQ+ individuals. After 33 years of devoted service, our Rabbi has announced his intention to retire. Our new spiritual leader will have the unique opportunity to continue to shape and grow our diverse and warm community.

Job Description Ritual Responsibilities Lead weekly and holiday services, with participation of lay-leaders, as needed Plan and help to execute student and family services in conjunction with the Education Director Conduct life-cycle ceremonies, i.e. Baby Namings, B’nai Mitzvot, Weddings, Funerals, as needed

Education Work with Education Director to develop curriculum for LEV Academy, our Hebrew School program Teach our 7th grade (Hey Class) B’Nai Mitzvah class Prepare B’nai Mitzvah students Teach Torah and Haftorah portions and associated blessings Friday night and Saturday morning service prayers (with emphasis on the Torah service) Help to develop a vibrant, active post-B’Nai Mitzvah teen program Develop and coordinate family educational and holiday programs with the Executive Director Lead and implement adult education programming

Outreach and Pastoral Care Take leadership role with the PJC Board in recruiting new partners Maintain on-going outreach to retain current partners Represent the congregation and Judaism at events in the larger community Provide pastoral counseling and support to congregants, including Bikur Cholim Be reasonably accessible to the congregation Work with the PJC Board of Directors on collaborative fundraising initiatives Participate in the Millstone Interfaith Council (Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, Interfaith Passover Seder and other mutually desirable programs and events)

Communication Write a monthly article for the PJC Press, the official newsletter of the Perrineville Jewish Center Be available via phone, email, text, etc. Contribute to and expand our presence on social media Attend monthly board meetings at the request of the Board President

What we Offer Annual salary $55,000 - $75,000 (negotiable) Rabbinical parsonage with full kosher kitchen available as additional benefit Can be converted to additional salary if housing is not needed Medical benefits as needed

Our synagogue has been in existence since 1910 and has been located at 855 Perrineville Road, in Perrineville (Millstone Twp.), New Jersey since 1925. Perrineville, NJ is a town rich in Jewish history with European Jews who settled here in the “Catskills” of NJ after WWI.

We are located in the heart of equestrian and farm country surrounded by nature and tranquility, yet close to major shopping retailers and transportation to New York City and Philadelphia.
