Job Description

Chabad STREAM Academy / Tamim Academy Queens is seeking enthusiastic and passionate judaic studies teachers to join our warm elementary school community. Candidates should be committed to working collaboratively and to becoming part of a professional learning community.

Teaching Practice: -Demonstrate effective teaching practice -Develop and facilitate authentic learning experiences which meet the needs of all students. -Utilize in-depth understanding of content, assessment, and learning progressions to engage learners -Make practices clear, accessible, shareable, and well-documented

Pedagogy: -Pursue STREAM Academy’s pedagogy and vision for the future of learning. -Demonstrate orientation towards and commitment to a whole-child vision for teaching and learning -Understand and employ techniques for developing knowledge, skills, habits, and metacognition in support of the whole child -Promote student agency and ownership with regard to learning

Professionalism: -Demonstrate extraordinary professionalism in service of the mission -Demonstrate commitment to lifelong professional learning -Design, strengthen and participate in positive learning environments that support individual and collaborative learning -Build strong relationships that contribute to individual and collective success -Be a self-starter, comfortable with change, risk-taking and realignment -Convey a dedication to ALL learners, regardless of personal circumstance or academic need.

Support STREAM Academy’s Growth: -Ensure a constantly open classroom, create a welcoming and collaborative visitor experience -Contribute to the growth of the school through effective communication, individual initiative, and in response to the needs/requests of the community.

Basic Qualifications: • Prior experience with creating whole-child learning activities, including classroom teaching experience with students at the relevant age band • Prior experience with demonstrated academic results and fostering social emotional learning in student experiences • Passion for working with and engaging children in student driven learning • Commitment to continuous professional learning, collaboration, improvement and a willingness to share lessons learned • Collaborative mindset and a ‘can do’ attitude to overcoming obstacles.

Preferred Qualifications: • Undergraduate or graduate degree in education • Prior experience collaborating with other educators • Prior experience leading curriculum development and/or assessment.
