Job Description / Essential Elements

In collaboration with the Dean of Student and Family Support Services and a robust student support department, the psychologist and/or mental health specialist will be responsible for school-based social/emotional support and counseling services to students (individual or group), as well as provide consultation services to parents, teachers, administrators, and community agencies to meet the needs of students through goals and progress monitoring.

Salary: Very Competitive, commensurate with experience and credentials; health and other benefits packages Requirements / Qualifications Minimum of three or more years of experience in school-based counseling and/or student mental health services; willingness to understand, honor, and uphold Hillel’s educational/religious mission and values as an Orthodox Jewish and Zionist day school

Credential Requirements: LCSW, MSW, MFT, PsyD, M.A./M.S., and/or PhD; trained with evidence-based interventions for school-based counseling services, preferably CBT, DBT, and other psycho-social interventions.

Duties: Deliver direct school-based counseling, social/emotional support, and/or social skills services for identified caseload of students or classes and/or during unstructured times (recess yard, etc). Develop and implement teacher and/or staff training based on support needs for students and those of the general school learner community Apply knowledge of research-based interventions, techniques, materials, methods, and theories in supporting students with social/emotional support needs
Where necessary, collaborate with the Dean of Student Support and staff behaviorist to provide expertise and consultation regarding behavioral intervention strategies. Collaborate with administration on intervention strategies for management of individual and school-wide crisis Conduct observations on individual students in order to identify any potential barriers that may be impacting a specific student’s learning and/or social-emotional functioning Interpret psycho-educational, neuropsychological, other assessments for the purpose of developing student success plans Participate in student success planning meetings; provide recommendations to parents and administrators regarding any further need for out-of-school evaluation and intervention plans for students Where appropriate, develop and provide staff development training and/or classroom-based trainings to staff Provides referral and consultation services to and with community agencies. In addition to the Dean of Student and Family Support, serves as one of the liaisons between the school, the family and the selected community resource where outside therapeutic and/or social services are provided.
