JCC Greater Boston is seeking a program director to help create enriching, supportive, and memorable experiences for children enrolled in Discovery Club Afterschool. Discovery Club is an active and engaging afterschool program for children in grades K–5. This full-time position will pay $56,000–$60,000 as a starting salary. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the hour’s employee will work, the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity. Responsibilities
Oversee and provide a vision for robust social-emotional learning, Jewish experiential learning, and general classes as well as general program philosophy Recruit, hire, and manage after school educators Develop and deliver professional development training Maintain the standards of care and program quality including staff management, student, and family relationships, and facility care as well as compliance with the Department of Early Education and Care licensing requirements and regulations Manage budget and accounts for the program, working closely with the Business Office, onboarding new families, and awarding tuition assistance Supervise children attending the program and promote safety and respect among all participants Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Develop strategies to support children in managing their behavior Respond to the individual needs of children, and liaise sensitively with parents on matters concerning their children, while maintaining confidentiality Ensure that the health and safety needs of the children are met and all issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately Communicate the mission, values, and operating principles of the organization to employees and other stakeholders Support and coordinate Discovery Club grant research, data collection, and content gathering as well as parent feedback surveys Oversee safe transportation from elementary schools to the JCC and communicate with school and transportation staff to ensure smooth and safe transport of children Qualifications
Be collaborative, flexible, and visionary with expertise in leading and managing dynamic teams Have exceptional relationship-building skills and the ability to develop meaningful connections with families, children, and staff Be a strong communicator (listening, written and verbal) with outstanding customer service skills Have solid project management abilities Be highly organized and process-oriented Have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in education, recreation, or a related field Have 3 years’ experience leading a multi-faceted educational program Be able to pass state-mandated CORI|SORI|DCF| fingerprinting and background check Essential Functions
Be able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities Be able to lift and carry objects weighing 30-40 pounds (boxes of supplies, children’s backpacks, etc.) Be able to sit and kneel, getting down at eye level with children regularly Application
