The Religious School Administrator/B'nai Mitzvah Coordinator supports the Director of Congregational Learning and the B'nai Mitzvah Program. The individual in this role must enjoy working within an environment that is mission-focused, results-driven, and community-oriented. The ideal individual for this position will exercise good judgment in a variety of situations and possess strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills. This individual will be able to balance multiple priorities and handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. Temple Emanuel’s staff works closely as a team to serve the synagogue’s membership, leadership, and broader community. This position is an integral part of the team.
SUPPORT DIRECTOR OF CONGREGATIONAL LEARNING: Support all aspects of the education program at Temple Emanuel, including the Director of Congregational Learning (DCL), Director of Youth Engagement (DYE), Inclusion Specialist, and Religious School staff Maintain Religious School databases, including creating, maintaining and updating registration and enrollment information, class lists, and attendance sheets Manage the Religious School calendar Maintain teacher and student attendance records Provide accurate HR files for the Religious School; provide Religious School payroll to the DCL and the Bookkeeper monthly Work with new Religious School staff to ensure proper HR paperwork and assist with onboarding Provide security training to Religious School staff and ensure proper maintenance and use of walkie talkies Organize field trip logistics, including transportation, scheduling, parent communications, and accommodations Order books and supplies, including Upper School dinners Communicate with Building Manager to ensure proper classroom and event set up Process weekly tzedakah Work with Communications Director to create flyers and email communications about programs and events Other duties as assigned SUPPORT B'NEI MITZVAH PROGRAM: Work with Clergy and Executive Director to assign B'nai Mitzvah dates Communicate with B'nai Mitzvah students and their families to coordinate meetings with clergy and tutors Maintain calendar of student meetings; track progress Provide materials for students in coordinator with the Cantor Prepare programs, congregational gifts, certificates, etc. Prepare tutor payroll monthly Serve as point person for questions related to the B'nei Mitzvah process Assign B'nei Mitzvah families to usher Other duties as assigned
CLERGY & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT: Assist Rabbi with clerical tasks such as sending emails, ordering supplies, and tracking RSVPs for temple events. General office support including answering phones, greeting visitors, opening mail, and other duties as assigned.
