Overview
Temple Jeremiah is a vibrant Reform Jewish community where people of all backgrounds feel connected, valued, and inspired. We are seeking a warm, upbeat, and people-centered Membership Liaison to welcome and engage prospective and new members, ensuring they feel the joy of belonging that defines our temple family.
In this full-time role, the Membership Liaison will spend:
40% of their time is actively recruiting new members,
40% onboarding and supporting new members during their first year,
20% collaborating with lay leaders and staff to foster lasting member engagement and connection.
This position plays a vital role in realizing Temple Jeremiah’s promise: “Feel Connected.”
Key Responsibilities
Membership Recruitment (40%)
Serve as the warm and welcoming first point of contact for prospective members.
Proactively engage with individuals and families who express interest in Temple Jeremiah, offering tours, personalized follow-ups, and introductions to clergy, staff, and members.
Develop and implement outreach strategies and referral pathways that reflect our values of inclusivity and connection.
Collaborate with clergy, communications staff, and lay leaders to promote Temple Jeremiah in the broader community through events, advertising, and relational outreach.
Onboarding & Integration (40%)
Design and lead an engaging onboarding journey for new members, ensuring they feel supported from their first visit through their first year of membership.
Conduct personal intake conversations to understand interests, life stage, and goals.
Connect new members with programs, worship, learning opportunities, and other congregants based on their interests and needs.
Track engagement milestones and maintain regular, thoughtful communication throughout a member’s first year.
Connection & Retention Support (20%)
Partner with lay leaders and staff to help recent members find meaningful roles, friendships, and purpose in Temple life.
Monitor engagement trends and identify opportunities for connection, including transitions like religious school, B’nai Mitzvah, career beginnings, marriage, or retirement.
Work closely with the Executive Director and Engagement Committees to maintain a warm, inclusive, and dynamic community culture.
Champion the joy of belonging by celebrating each member’s journey and honoring their reasons for joining.
Key Attributes & Qualifications
At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in recruitment or sales settings.
Deeply personable, with a passion for connecting people and building relationships.
Experience in community building, membership, or customer engagement.
Outstanding communication skills—empathetic, clear, and authentic.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
Knowledge of or connection to Jewish community life is a plus; curiosity and openness to learn are essential.
Tech-savvy and comfortable using CRM tools or databases to track relationships and engagement.
Availability to attend occasional evenings and weekends for temple events and meetings.
