Job Description

As the only Jewish Special Education school accredited by the prestigious Middle States Association of Primary and Secondary Schools, SINAI Schools is widely recognized as one of the country’s leading Jewish schools for children with disabilities and special needs. SINAI currently operates seven schools, including two elementary schools and three high schools in NJ and two elementary schools in NY, all of which are integrated within a regular education Jewish partner school.

The Tuition and Legal Assistant will work primarily with office executives and perform general office work. This is a full time, and as of now, a hybrid position, requiring in office work two (2) days per week, and also occasionally requiring evening and weekend work.

Responsibilities may include: Drafting legal documents and correspondence Managing, sorting, and filing data such as application forms, schedules and other documents Updating and maintaining accurate information in electronic database; maintaining reports and lists Managing and organizing documents in response to discovery and subpoena requests Preparing for administrative hearings, with possible participation during hearings Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and providing timely reminders Managing incoming/outgoing telephone calls and tracking messages Speaking with parents, staff members and attorneys; taking clear messages and conveying basic information to them Typing/revising dictated and written communications and other documents Occasional evening and weekend work required Occasional support of fundraising and marketing departments, as needed Go home every day feeling like you made the world a better place

Qualifications:

A demonstrated interest in legal and/or nonprofit work Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent writing and interpersonal skills Prior experience working with databases and spreadsheets Outstanding time management skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other staff members Ability to work in a discreet manner, maintaining confidentiality Experience or certification/diploma as a legal secretary/assistant or paralegal, a plus

Required – proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word; Google Drive including Google Docs, Sheets, Apps, and Calendar.
