Jewish News Syndicate (JNS), the fastest-growing news agency covering Israel and the Jewish world, seeks a full-time Copy Editor to join its editorial team. This is a fully remote role open to anyone in the United States. The role requires sharp attention to detail, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced news environment.
Responsibilities: • Proofread and copyedit a continuous stream of opinion pieces, briefs, news and feature articles, press releases, and aggregated content about Israel and the Jewish world • Flag and correct factual errors and inconsistencies, verifying names, dates, statistics, quotes, and links, and following up with writers when information is unclear • Check each story for plagiarism • Edit headlines, subheads, and photo captions for clarity and accuracy • Publish finished articles to the CMS and update the website with breaking news items • Participate in editorial meetings and collaborate with supervisors to uphold editorial standards
Qualifications: • 2+ years of copyediting experience at news or media publications • Native English speaker; must reside and be eligible to legally work in the US • Solid understanding of the Israel/US political landscape and global and American Jewish communities • Proficiency in WordPress and related content-management tools • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively • Fact-checking and plagiarism detection experience a plus
