We are seeking passionate Hebrew and Judaic Studies educators to join our Jewish Learning Program team and help children experience Judaism in joyful, hands on, and relevant ways.
About JLP, JLabs, and JPods The Jewish Learning Program at Temple B’nai Abraham is designed to rethink what supplemental Jewish education can look like for today’s children and families. Through JLabs and JPods, students learn in dynamic small group environments that prioritize creativity, connection, collaboration, and experiential learning. JLabs are immersive, project based learning experiences where Jewish values, holidays, Hebrew, culture, art, STEAM, cooking, music, storytelling, movement, and community come together in meaningful ways. JPods are smaller Hebrew learning groups that allow educators to personalize instruction, support confidence building, and meet students where they are in their Hebrew journey. Our educators are not expected to teach from the front of a classroom for hours at a time. Instead, we seek educators who can create experiences children remember, conversations children continue at home, and Jewish moments that feel joyful and authentic.
Position Overview Under the direction of the Director of Jewish Education and JLP leadership team, JLabs and JPods educators facilitate engaging Hebrew and Judaic learning experiences for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. This role is ideal for educators who are creative, collaborative, warm, energetic, and excited by experiential learning. Teachers help children build Hebrew skills, Jewish identity, friendships, and community through interactive and meaningful programming.
Key Responsibilities Create Meaningful Jewish Learning Experiences • Facilitate engaging Hebrew and Judaic learning through hands on and experiential approaches • Adapt curriculum into creative workshops, stations, projects, games, and collaborative activities • Bring Jewish holidays, values, and traditions to life through art, music, storytelling, movement, cooking, STEAM, and discussion • Create an environment where children feel excited to participate and proud to be Jewish • Support Hebrew decoding, prayer skills, vocabulary, and confidence building within small group pod instruction Teach Through the JPrograms Educational Pillars Educators rotate curriculum experiences through four experiential pillars in consecutive learning cycles: • Creative Exploration • Community and Collaboration • Ritual and Jewish Living • Innovation and Discovery Teachers are expected to adapt curriculum into interactive experiences rather than relying on frontal teaching models. Build Relationships and Community • Foster strong and supportive relationships with students and families • Create welcoming classroom environments where every child feels seen, valued, and included • Communicate positively and professionally with families and leadership • Collaborate closely with fellow educators and staff members • Model warmth, flexibility, positivity, and enthusiasm for Jewish life Support Smooth Program Operations • Prepare materials and learning environments for each session • Help manage transitions, schedules, and student engagement • Maintain organized and safe classroom spaces • Participate in planning meetings and ongoing collaboration
Qualifications • Background in Jewish education, Hebrew instruction, youth engagement, camp, or classroom teaching preferred • Hebrew reading knowledge preferred for JPods educators • Experience working with children in educational, camp, synagogue, or informal learning settings • Creative thinker who enjoys experiential and project based learning • Strong communication and organizational skills • Warm, flexible, collaborative personality • Passion for building joyful Jewish experiences for children and families • Educators from public, private, camp, arts, or informal educational settings are encouraged to apply Schedule • Part time afternoon and/or Sunday morning positions available (Sundays are remote only for Hebrew/no Judaics) • Monday through Thursday JPods and JLabs programming • Sunday programming opportunities available • Additional planning and collaboration hours as needed
