The Associate Rabbi, under the supervision of the Senior Rabbi, serves as a spiritual leader, educator, and community builder for the congregation. This role includes leading services, teaching adult and youth classes, and representing the synagogue as needed. The Associate Rabbi supports the Senior Rabbi and may serve in their place when required.
A central focus of the role is cultivating meaningful relationships with congregants through active outreach, pastoral care, and community engagement. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership, scholarship, and spiritual presence, inspiring congregants to live engaged Jewish lives. A commitment to building a long-term home in Santa Clarita is strongly desired.
The Associate Rabbi reports to the Senior Rabbi and collaborates with the President of the Board of Trustees, as appropriate. They must be preparing towards or received ordination from a recognized rabbinical seminary and have demonstrated commitment to Jewish learning, leadership, and pastoral care.
This part-time position is designed with a pathway to a full-time role, as the congregation plans for a future leadership transition as part of an anticipated succession plan.
